stoping information from spreading around.
in other words: controlling it.
controlling the information, controlling the population.

while reading (and watching) pictures from the 2010 december’s edition of “Reporter Sans Frontières”s album, dedicated to David Burnett’s work, I came around this picture. it’s not my favorite of his work, but it made me think about the internet restrictions we’re now seeing in the Middle-East.

because Facebook is able to easily rally people.
because Twitter is able to quickly get messages around.

so is “internet blocking” the new “book burning”?

Fermeture de la bande de Gaza : l’appel de Reporters sans frontières a récolté plus de 100 signatures

A l’occasion de la centième signature de l’appel lancé par Reporters sans frontières le 9 janvier 2009, l’organisation réitère son appel à la mobilisation des médias internationaux et exhorte à nouveau les autorités israéliennes à rétablir l’accès de la bande de Gaza aux reporters, interdite aux journalistes étrangers depuis le début de novembre 2008. L’entrée dans la bande de Gaza de professionnels des médias serait la garantie d’une information indépendante sur les événements qui se déroulent aujourd’hui à Gaza.
