Bienvenue à "Welcome to Nowhere"
je couvrais le festival Temps d’Images à l’Usine C et voici l’article que j’ai pondu sur l’évènement:
http://www.info-culture.biz/festivaltempsimages.html
mais bon, comme vous allez remarquer pour ceux qui ont lu, j’ai rencontré une gang vraiment hot de New York, so here is the translation so you guys out there can read it too
(and so I can improve my english !)
Welcome (in french) to “Welcome to nowhere”
There are a couple of projections and installations that are presented at Usine C, but there are also shows and performances. Let me talk to you about the show I saw, going by the name of « Welcome to Nowhere ».
Sitting in a small piece of the factorywhile waiting for their presentation, I meet up with the team of Temporary Distortion, those new-yorkers that were going to perform an hour later. Frankly, I start by telling them that I have NO IDEA about the work they do, and that I was ready for anything ! So I ask them not to tell me anything, and we set a rendez-vous after the show so I can give my impressions. But before that, one GUY asks me to pay attention for “the mexican woman”. The mexican WOMAN ? Allright !
So I sit down, ready for whatever. The show starts, and I have no idea at all of what they want to talk about ! But patience, patience… and as usually, this patience served me. One after the other, the scenes made me think and laugh. (this part rhymes in french by the way
) “I don’t need it to be easy. I don’t need lies.” And at a certain moment where one actress is just about to commit suicide, we ask ourselves the same question as the narrator: what if, when you’re about to die, you discover some truths of the universe that you couldn’t have known another way ?

Anyway… it wasn’t an obscure hour spent watching. There was even a kraaraoke in the middle of the act so we can sing with the actors ! Oh yeah… almost forgot: did I tell you that the play is more than original ? To understand how everything looks like, first thing to do is to imagine yourself at a theatre, sitting in a dark room. You then remove any kind of movement from the characters that you place in very small glassy rooms, right next to each other. Finally, place on top of them a large horizontal screen where there is a movie playing. And in this movie, the six actors that take place one after the other in front of the audience see themselves in another world. A parallel one. There is where they’ll live violence, death and love.

I see some of the crew after the show and tell them that I liked it… really. But that I didn’t see the mexican woman !! They smile and thank me for watching. And because of their kindness and frankness, I left with a great feeling about them.
Requirement for “Welcome to nowwhere”: concentration and an opened mind.
Reward: originality, humour, reflexion and artistic ecstasy.
